In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist said the people of Israel, “forgot God their savior, which had done great things in Egypt”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse twenty-two of Psalms the Psalmist shared how the people of Israel forgot Jehovah God's, “wondrous works in the land of Ham” where we read,
Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
The verse begins, “Wondrous works in the land of Ham, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “wondrous works” or “marvelous, surpassing and extraordinary acts and deeds” “in the land of Ham” which means “within the territory, region, district and country belonging to Ham whose name means hot and was the second son of Noah, father of Canaan and of various peoples which were inhabitants of southern lands”. The Psalmist referred to the marvelous acts and deeds that Jehovah God performed while the people of Israel were in the territory of “Ham”.
The verse goes on to say, “... and terrible things by the Red sea.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and terrible things” or “and awesome, fearful and revered acts and deeds” “by the Red sea” which means “through the means of the large body of water known as the Red sea”. The Psalmist mentioned the awesome and fearful acts performed by Jehovah God at the “Red sea”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said the people of Israel forgot all the marvelous deeds Jehovah God performed while they were in the territory of “Ham” or “Egypt”. He also mentioned the miracle Jehovah God did at the “Red sea”. God worked mightily among the people of Israel, and yet, they forgot Him. God worked on our behalf as well when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and remind us over and over again concerning His wonderful and fearful acts that He has performed for all mankind and us personally.
Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “said that he would destroy them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
