There Go the Ships - Psalms 104:26

In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said, “O LORD, how manifold are your works! in wisdom have you made them all: the earth is full of your riches. So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse twenty-six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “there go the ships” where we read,

There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom you have made to play therein.

The verse begins, There go the ships: The Psalmist began with the words, “there go” or “in the seas depart, proceed, move and traverse” “the ships” which means “the large boats and sailing vessels”. The Psalmist referred to the sailing vessels that traverse the seas that Jehovah God has made.

The verse continues, there is that leviathan, whom you have made to play therein. The Psalmist added the words, “there is that leviathan” or “in the seas exists the sea monster, dragon or large aquatic animal”, “whom you have made” which means “that you, Jehovah God, formed, fashioned and created” “to play therein” or “to laugh, make sport and maneuver within”. The Psalmist referred to the large aquatic animal in the sea in which Jehovah God made to make sport and maneuver within it.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the “sailing vessels” and “large aquatic animals” that traverse and dwell in the large “seas”. God created the bodies of water upon the earth, and He made them so “ships” can sail upon them and large aquatic animals swim and traverse within them. God is a wonderful creator, and He made us as well. God loves us, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to enjoy and admire His “seas” which were made for the “ships” and the “large aquatic animals”.

Next time the Psalmist says, “these wait all upon you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
