In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said, “O LORD, how manifold are your works! in wisdom have you made them all: the earth is full of your riches”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse twenty-five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “so is this great and wide sea” where we read,
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
The verse begins, “So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “so is this great and wide sea” or “even so and indeed exists this large, important and distinguished broad, roomy and large body of water such as the Red, Dead and Mediterranean Sea”, “wherein are things” which means “in which exist articles, obstacles and implements” “creeping innumerable” or “moving, gliding and rapidly moving animals great in number, count and tales”. The Psalmist referred to the massive and broad waters in which moving and rapidly moving animals are beyond count.
The verse goes on to say, “... both small and great beasts.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “both small” or “including animals which are tiny, insignificant and unimportant” “and great beasts” which means “and large, abundant and important living, alive and active animals”. The Psalmist included the insignificant and important living animals or living beings within the great and wide sea.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist mentioned the rapidly moving creatures within the large bodies of waters, and these animals are both significant and insignificant. God created all creatures big and small, and many of them live in the oceans, seas and rivers of the world. He is all powerful, all-knowing, and omnipresent, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal His mighty power over His creation including the “small and large” creatures within the “seas”.
Next time the Psalmist says, “there go the ships”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
