In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen” to Egypt on behalf of Israel, and in chapter one hundred five and verse twenty-seven of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Moses and Aaron, “showed his signs among them” where we read,
They showed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
The verse begins, “They showed his signs among them, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “they showed” or “they, Moses and Aaron, spoke, uttered and demonstrated” “his signs among them” which means “his, Jehovah God's, miraculous tokens and proofs in the midst of the Egyptians”. (See Exodus 7:1-25) The Psalmist shared how Moses and Aaron displayed the miraculous works of Jehovah God before the Pharaoh and his entourage.
The verse continues, “... and wonders in the land of Ham.” The Psalmist added the words, “and wonders” or “and portents, miracles and tokens” “in the land” which means “within the territory, region and country” “of Ham” or “belonging to Ham whose name means whose name means hot and was the second son of Noah and the father of Canaan and of various peoples which were inhabitants of southern lands”. The Psalmist shared how Moses and Aaron also performed miracles and tokens within the country that descended from “Ham” who was Noah's second son.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist referred to the signs that Moses and Aaron performed in front of the Pharaoh of Egypt and his people. Ten plagues were sent upon the people of “Egypt” before Pharaoh released the people of Israel, but when they were all over, Pharaoh set them free. This was God's plan all along. God wants people to be free from “sin” which is symbolized by “Egypt”. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life with Him and allow us to marvel at His “wonders and signs” which show the world that He is indeed God.
Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “sent darkness, and made it dark”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
