In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said of the deep waters of the earth that Jehovah God, “set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse eleven of Psalms the Psalmist said of the waters of the earth, “they give drink to every beast of the field” where we read,
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
The verse begins, “They give drink to every beast of the field:” The Psalmist began with the words, “they give drink” or “they, the waters of the earth, provide, grant and irrigate” “to every beast” which means “to each, the whole, all and everyone of the strong living animals” “of the field” or “belonging to the cultivated land, plain and country”. The Psalmist shared how the waters of the earth provide irrigation to every strong living animal in the cultivated lands.
The verse goes on to say, “the wild asses quench their thirst.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “the wild asses” or “the onagers or donkeys” “quench their thirst” which means “assuage and satisfy their, the wild donkeys', desire for water or liquid refreshment”. The Psalmist shared how the “wild donkeys” satisfy their desire for liquid refreshment with the waters Jehovah God provides.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared about Jehovah God's provision of water for the wild animals and donkeys. God concerns Himself with His created animals, and without His provision, they would perish. God desires to be the provision and protection of every person, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind to make that possible. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide for us like He does the “wild beasts” and “donkeys” of the fields.
Next time the Psalmist says of the waters, “by them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
