In Psalms one hundred twelve the Psalmist said, “A good man shows favor, and lends: he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred twelve and verse eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “his heart is established” where we read,
His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
The verse begins, “His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “his heart is established” or “his, the good and upright person's, soul, mind, will, desires, living being and seat of emotions and passions, exists as fixed, set and confirmed”, “he shall not be afraid” which means “he, the good and upright person, will in no way or manner exist as fearful, dreadful, astonished and terrified”. The Psalmist repeated the idea of how the soul, mind and will of the people who are “good and upright” exist as fixed, and they are not in any way fearful and terrified.
The verse continues, “... until he see his desire upon his enemies.” The Psalmist added the words, “until he see his desire” or “till the time he, the good and upright person, beholds, observes, notices and discerns his, the good and upright person's, passion, want and hope” “upon his enemies” which means “on his, the good and upright persons', hating foes and adversaries”. The Psalmist said the “good and upright” person will be “established and not afraid” till the time when they observe their passion upon their hating foes and adversaries.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist continued to tell of the established soul and lack of fear of the person who is “good and upright”, and he added that the “good and upright” would continue in this manner until such time that his hating foes and adversaries were in the condition he wanted. God knows there are people who are against us, and he can relate to us because people were enemies to Him. Even so, Jehovah God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with those who “hate” us and bring us opposition in this world.
Next time the Psalmist says, “he has dispersed, he has given to the poor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
