Let His Days Be Few - Psalms 109:8

In Psalms one hundred nine David said speaking of his enemies, “For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. Set you a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin”, and in chapter one hundred nine and verse eight of Psalms David said, “let his days be few” where we read,

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

The verse begins, Let his days be few; David began with the words, “let his days” or “allow and permit his, David's adversary's, time periods” “be few” which means “exist as a little and short”. David wanted Jehovah God to permit his adversary's time on the earth to be short.

The verse continues, and let another take his office.” David added the words, “and let another” or “and allow and permit one other person to” “take his office” which means “fetch, lay hold of, seize, receive and acquire his, David's adversary's, oversight, care, and account”. David wanted someone to replace the position and charge that was held by his adversary.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David appealed to Jehovah God not only to make his adversary's life short, but also that he would be replaced in his position. This reminds us of “Judas” who betrayed Jesus and his office of an apostle was taken by another. (See Matthew 27:6 and Acts 1:16-24) Jesus Christ, God's Son, came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and manage those who oppose us in a similar manner to which He handled Judas.

Next time David says, “let his children be fatherless”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
