In Psalms one hundred twelve the Psalmist said about the good man, “His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies”, and in chapter one hundred twelve and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said, “he has dispersed, he has given to the poor” where we read,
He has dispersed, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever;
his horn shall be exalted with honor.
The verse begins, “He has dispersed, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever;” The Psalmist began with the words, “he has dispersed” or “he, the person whose heart is established and sees his desire upon his enemies, has scattered, spent and given generously”, “he has given to the poor” which means “he, the person whose heart is established and sees his desire upon his enemies, has bestowed, delivered, caused and appointed to people who are in want, needy, oppressed, abused and troubled”; “his righteousness” or “the justice, prosperity and morally and ceremonially vindicated of his, the person who has dispersed and given to the poor” “endures for ever” which means “lasts, remains and stands perpetually, for long duration and with continuous existence”. The Psalmist said the person who reveres Jehovah God and delights in His commandments has given generously to people who are oppressed and abused, and their justice and rightness lasts perpetually.
The verse goes on to say, “his horn shall be exalted with honor.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “his horn” or “the strength and power of his, the person who has dispersed, given to the poor and whose righteousness endures for ever” “shall be exalted” which means “will be lifted up, lofty, set on high and uplifted” “with honor” or “by the use of glory, abundance, riches and splendor”. The Psalmist said the power and strength of the person who has “dispersed, give to the poor” and whose “righteousness endures for ever” will be lifted up with glory, abundance and splendor.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist continued to share about the person who reveres Jehovah God and delights in His commandments. This person gives generously to people who are destitute and oppressed, and their power and strength will be raised with splendor and glory. God loves to help people develop in this manner when they have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to have the qualities in our lives which were reflected and demonstrated through Jesus Christ.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the wicked shall see it, and be grieved”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
