In Psalms one hundred thirteen the Psalmist said, “Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwells on high, ...”, and in chapter one hundred thirteen and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “who humbles himself to behold the things that are in heaven” where we read,
Who humbles himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
The verse begins, “Who humbles himself to behold the things that are in heaven, ...” The Psalmist said, “who humbles himself” which means “who, Jehovah God, becomes low, sinks, is abased and debases His own self” “to behold the things” or “to observe, look upon, inspect and consider all the things” “that are in heaven” which means “which exist in the visible sky, atmosphere and abode of Jehovah God”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God abases Himself to look upon everything that is within the visible sky, atmosphere and His celestial dwelling place.
The verse goes on to say, “... and in the earth!” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and in the earth” which means “and the things within the country, territory, region and world”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God lowers Himself also to observe everything that is within the world.
When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he recognized the wonderful ability of Jehovah God to “humble” Himself to observe everything within the “heavens and earth”. God made everything that exists, and He may look upon it any time He desires. He made mankind, and He knew that sin within them separated them from a personal relationship with Him. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an understanding of His ability to “humble” Himself to identify with us and to observe all the things He has made. (See Philippians 2:8)
Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “He raises up the poor out of the dust”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
