In Psalms one hundred fourteen the Psalmist said, “Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob”, and in chapter one hundred fourteen and verse eight of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God's presence, “turned the rock into a standing water” where we read,
Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
The verse begins, “Which turned the rock into a standing water, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “which turned the rock” which means “who overthrew, overturned, changed and transformed the cliff, rocky wall, block of stone and boulder” “into a standing water” or “into a troubled pool, muddy pond, swamp and marsh”. The Psalmist referred to how Jehovah God changed and transformed the rocky boulder into a troubled and muddy pool or swamp.
The verse continues, “... the flint into a fountain of waters.” The Psalmist added the words, “the flint” or “the hard flinty rock” “into a fountain” which means “into a spring, well and source” “of waters” or “pertaining to watercourses or floods”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God also turned the hardened flint rock into flowing watercourses or floods.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist continued to share about the ability of Jehovah God to alter any part of the earth He desires. He changes the rocky stones into troubled pools, and He alters the state of hard flinty rock into springs and wells. God is able to do whatever He wants with the surface of the earth, and because He wants us to live with Him forever, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and align us with Him as He does according to His will with the world.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto your name give glory”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
