God's Wonderful Works Remembered - Psalms 111:4

In Psalms one hundred eleven the Psalmist said, “The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honorable and glorious: and his righteousness endures for ever”, and in chapter one hundred eleven and verse four of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “has made his wonderful works to be remembered” where we read,

He has made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

The verse begins, He has made his wonderful works to be remembered:” The Psalmist began with the words, “He has made” or “He, Jehovah God, fashioned, produced, accomplished and effected” “his wonderful works” which means “his, Jehovah God's, marvelous, surpassing and extraordinary acts, deeds and labors” “ to be remembered” or “to exist as a memento, commemoration, recollection and memory”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God fashioned and produced His extraordinary works in such a way that they would be called to mind and memorialized.

The verse continues, “the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.” The Psalmist added the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is gracious” which means “exists as merciful, benignant and filled with grace” “and full of compassion” or “and loving, compassionate and complete with mercy”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is filled with “grace” and “mercy”.

When we meditate upon words of the Psalmist in this verse, we discover that the character of Jehovah God is filled with “grace” or unmerited favor and “mercy” which is kindness, goodness and faithfulness. God is love, (See 1 John 4:8,16) and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus. He demonstrated His love toward us by sending Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. (See Romans 5:8) As we surrender to Him, we experience the extraordinary work of salvation by God's “grace” and “mercy”, and we shall live with Him forever in Heaven because of His wonderful traits.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “has given meat unto them that fear him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
