Not Afraid of Evil Tidings - Psalms 112:7

In Psalms one hundred twelve the Psalmist said, “A good man shows favor, and lends: he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance”, and in chapter one hundred twelve and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “he shall not be afraid of evil tidings” where we read,

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

The verse begins, He shall not be afraid of evil tidings:” The Psalmist began with the words, “he shall not be afraid” or “he, the good and upright person will in no way exist as fearful, dreadful, astonished and terrified” “of evil tidings” which means “pertaining to wicked, bad, disagreeable, malignant, unpleasant and displeasing rumors, reports and news”. The Psalmist said the “good and upright” person would not be fearful of wicked and unpleasant reports and news.

The verse goes on to say, “his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “his heart is fixed” or “his, the good and upright person's, soul, mind, will, desires, living being and seat of emotions and passions exists as established, set and confirmed”, “trusting in the LORD” which means “having faith, confidence and hope within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said the soul, mind and will of the person who is “good and upright” exist as set and established because they have faith and confidence within Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how the person who is “good and upright” will not be fearful about bad and malignant reports because their soul, mind and will exist as established and they have confidence within Jehovah God. God wants people to be in a personal relationship with Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and place within us a “fixed heart” that has faith in Jehovah God.

Next time the Psalmist says, “his heart is established”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
