Psalms one hundred thirteen begins with the Psalmist saying, “Praise you the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred thirteen and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said completely,
Praise you the LORD. Praise, O you servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.
The verse begins, “ ...Praise you the LORD. Praise, O you servants of the LORD,” The Psalmist began with the words, “Praise you the LORD” or “be boastful, commend, make worthy, adore and celebrate you, people reading and listening to the Psalmist's words, Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. “Praise” which means “be boastful, commend, make worthy, adore and celebrate”, “O you servants” or “O you, people reading and listening to the Psalmist's words, bondmen, people of servile condition and worshipers” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist exhorted the serving people of Jehovah God who were reading and listening to his words to give glory and honor to Him.
The verse goes on to say, “... praise the name of the LORD.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “praise the name” or “be boastful, commend, make worthy, adore and celebrate the fame, reputation and glory” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist repeated the idea of his readers and listeners adoring, honoring, celebrating and giving glory to Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted the people who were reading and listening to his words to give honor and glory to Jehovah God. God is worthy of our “praise”, and when we consider all He has done for us including sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we should celebrate and give Him glory. God loves us, and when we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity to give Him praise, honor and glory for all eternity.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Blessed be the name of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
