The Rod of the LORD's Strength - Psalms 110:2

In Psalms one hundred ten David said, “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit you at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool”, and in chapter one hundred ten and verse two of Psalms David said, “The LORD shall send the rod of your strength out of Zion” where we read,

The LORD shall send the rod of your strength out of Zion: rule you in the midst of your enemies.

The verse begins, The LORD shall send the rod of your strength out of Zion:” David began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall send the rod” which means “will dispatch and assign the staff, branch, tribe and company” “of your strength” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, power, might and ability” “out of Zion” which means “from Zion whose name means parched place and was another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. David shared how Jehovah God would dispatch His staff of power from the city of Zion or Jerusalem.

The verse goes on to say, “rule you in the midst of your enemies.” David continued with the words, “rule you” or “have dominion, dominate, tread down and subjugate you, Jehovah God” “in the midst of” which means “among and within the middle of” “your enemies” or “your, Jehovah God's, hating foes and adversaries”. David appealed to Jehovah God to have dominion in the middle of His hating foes.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David said Jehovah God would dispatch His power and might upon Zion or Jerusalem, and he wanted Him to have dominion in the middle of His hating foes. God rules and reigns in the earth, and when we allow His Son Jesus to have dominion in our lives, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and align with Him as He “rules” in the middle of His hating foes and adversaries.

Next time David says, “your people shall be willing in the day of your power”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
