Tremble at the Presence of the Lord - Psalms 114:7

In Psalms one hundred fourteen the Psalmist asked, “What ailed you, O you sea, that you fled? you Jordan, that you were driven back? You mountains, that you skipped like rams; and you little hills, like lambs?”, and in chapter one hundred fourteen and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord” where we read,

Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

The verse begins, Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “tremble, you earth” which means “twist, whirl, dance, writhe, fear and be in anguish country, region, territory and world”, “at the presence” or “in the face, front and countenance” “of the Lord” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist instructed the “world” to twist and writhe in fear before the countenance of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, “... at the presence of the God of Jacob;” The Psalmist continued with the words, “at the presence” or “within the face, front and countenance” “of the God” which means “belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “of Jacob” or “belonging to Jacob whose name means heel-catcher or supplanter and was son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham, and father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel”. The Psalmist more specifically desired that the “earth” shake and quake in fear before the countenance of the Divine judge Jehovah God who belongs to “Jacob or Israel”.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he instructed the “world” to shake and writhe before the countenance of Jehovah God who was and is “Israel” or “Jacob's” Divine judge and Supreme God. God made the world and everything within it including people. He knows unless we have a “Savior” we will be forever separated from Him because we have all sinned. (See Romans 3:23) He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His assurance that we may be before Him in tranquility and calmness for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God's presence, “turned the rock into a standing water”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
