Drinking of the Brook - Psalms 110:7

In Psalms one hundred ten David said, “The LORD has sworn, and will not repent, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. The Lord at your right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries”, and in chapter one hundred ten and verse seven of Psalms David said, “He shall drink of the brook in the way” where we read,

He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

The verse begins, He shall drink of the brook in the way:” David began with the words, “He shall drink” or “He, Jehovah God, shall imbibe and quench His thirst” “of the brook” which means “from the wadi, stream or river” “in the way” or “along the path in which He brings judgment”. David said Jehovah God would quench His thirst in the streams along the pathway of those upon whom He brings judgment.

The verse continues, “therefore shall he lift up the head.” David added the words, “therefore shall he lift up” or “then, wherefore, and on this account will he, Jehovah God, raise, elevate, make lofty and exalt” “the head” which means “His summit, upper part, height and top”. David said because Jehovah God brings judgment upon all the people of the world and refreshes Himself in the streams therein, He will exalt Himself above all people who live.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David described the manner of Jehovah God during the time He brings judgment upon the people of the earth who refused His plan of salvation. God will refresh Himself within the streams of the world, and because He dominates everyone in judgment, He will exalt Himself to the summit and pinnacle over everybody. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He came into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. (See John 3:16) Anyone who refuses Him will be judged by God Himself, and while they suffer for their rebellion and disobedience, He will be refreshed and exalted as Almighty God.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “Praise you the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
