The Iniquities of His Fathers Remembered - Psalms 109:14

In Psalms one hundred nine David said speaking of his enemies, “Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. Let the extortioner catch all that he has; and let the strangers spoil his labor. Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children. Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out”, and in chapter one hundred nine and verse fourteen of Psalms David said, “let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD” where we read,

Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD;

and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

The verse begins, Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; David began with the words, “let the iniquity” or “allow and permit the perversity, depravity, guilt and consequences for moral evil” “of his fathers” which means “belonging to his, the enemy of David's, grandfathers, ancestors, forefathers and patriarchs” “be remembered” or “exist as called to mind, recalled and brought to remembrance” “with the LORD” which means “with Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David appealed to Jehovah God to allow the wickedness and evil of his enemy's fore-fathers to be brought to memory with Him.

The verse continues, “and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.” David added the words, “and let not the sin” or “and do not allow the offense, habitual error and wrong” “of his mother” which means “belonging to his, the adversary of David's, female ancestor to” “be blotted out” or “exist as wiped away and exterminated”. David wanted Jehovah God not to allow the error and wrong of his enemy's “mother” to be wiped away and exterminated.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David wanted the family of his enemy to be judged by Jehovah God. David wanted God to bring to mind the evil and wickedness committed by his adversary's grandparents, fore-fathers, and he desired that the evil of his enemy's mother not to be wiped away. David suggested these ideas to Jehovah God in prayer, and God wants us to be open and clear with our thoughts before Him. He knows them anyway, and when we yield to Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bring judgment upon those who disregard His warning and ways.

Next time David says, “let them be before the LORD continually”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
