Gilead, Manasseh and Ephraim - Psalms 108:8

In Psalms one hundred eight David said, “God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth”, and in chapter one hundred eight and verse eight of Psalms David said, “Gilead, Manasseh and Epharim” are God's where we read,

Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;

Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

The verse begins, Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; David began with the words, “Gilead is mine” or “Gilead whose name means rocky region and was a mountainous region bounded on the west by the Jordan, on the north by Bashan, on the east by the Arabian plateau, and on the south by Moab and Ammon; sometimes called 'Mount Gilead' or the 'land of Gilead' or just 'Gilead' exists as mine, Jehovah God's”; “Manasseh is mine” which means “Manasseh whose name means causing to forget and was the territory occupied by the tribe of Manasseh exists and mine, Jehovah God's”. David shared how Jehovah God claimed “Gilead and Manasseh” to be owned and possessed by Him.

The verse continues, “Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;” David added the word, “Ephraim” whose name means “double ash-heap: I shall be doubly fruitful” and was “sometimes used as the name for the northern kingdom” “also is the strength” which means “ even so and indeed exists as the fortress, protection and stronghold” “of mine head” or “belonging to mine, Jehovah God's, summit, upper part, chief, height and best”; “Judah” whose name means “praised” and was “the tribe descended from Judah the son of Jacob” “is my lawgiver” or “exists as my, Jehovah God's, engrave, inscribe, mark and trace”. David shared how the land of “Ephraim” was Jehovah God's chief and best, and “Judah” existed as Jehovah God's engrave, mark and trace.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David continued to share Jehovah God's possession over different areas of Israel. He added “Gilead, Manasseh and Ephraim” as places to which He oversaw and related. God is over every area of the world, and although He employed the people of Israel to be His beloved, God loves everyone. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be a part of the people He oversees and rules.

Next time David shares how, “Moab, Edom and Philistia” are God's, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
