Set with Princes - Psalms 113:8

In Psalms one hundred thirteen the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the dunghill”, and in chapter one hundred thirteen and verse eight of Psalms the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “that he may set him with princes” where we read,

That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

The verse begins, That he may set him with princes, ... The Psalmist said, “that he may set him” which means “so he, Jehovah God, might cause him, the person who is poor and needy, to dwell, sit down and abide” “with princes” or “alongside generous nobles”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God lifts the “poor and needy” out of their destitute places to make them dwell alongside “generous nobility”.

The verse goes on to say “... even with the princes of his people.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “even with the princes” which means “indeed and also alongside the generous nobles” “of his people” or “belonging to his, the poor and needy person's, nation, compatriots, country-men, kinsmen and kindred”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God would cause the “poor and needy” to be seated with the generous nobles of his own country-men and kinsmen.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God is able to take people who are lowly, needy and poor to be seated with the nobility among their people. James the apostle wrote, Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” (See James 4:8), and because God “resists the proud, and give grace unto the humble” (See 1 Peter 5:5), He is willing to save all who yield themselves to His Son Jesus. Jesus was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, cleanse us from all unrighteousness, grant us everlasting life and set us in places that are exalted and lifted up in Heaven and earth.

Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “he makes the barren women to keep house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
