Meat Given to Them Who Fear God - Psalms 111:5

In Psalms one hundred eleven the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “has made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion”, and in chapter one hundred eleven and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “has given meat unto them that fear him” where we read,

He has given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

The verse begins, He has given meat unto them that fear him:” The Psalmist began with the words, “He has given meat unto them” or “He, Jehovah God, has bestowed, granted, permitted, ascribed, employed, devoted and consecrated food to them, the people whether male or female” “that fear him” which means “who are afraid, reverence and are in awe of him, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God provides food for the people who are reverent and in awe of Him.

The verse goes on to say, “he will ever be mindful of his covenant.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “he will ever be mindful” or “he, Jehovah God, shall for long duration, evermore, perpetually and of ancient time remember, recall, bring to mind and make record” “of his covenant” which means “pertaining to his, Jehovah God's, treaty, alliance, league, constitution, ordinance, agreement and pledge”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God would constantly remember and bring to mind His treaty, ordinance and agreement to His people.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God makes provision of food for people who are in awe of Him, and He is constantly aware and brings to mind His agreement and pledge to those who put their faith and trust in Him. God wants to be the physical and spiritual provider for us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so we may be in a personal relationship with Him. God loves us, gave us life, keeps us living, and provides for us according to His promise that shall always and forever be kept by Him.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “has showed his people the power of his works”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
