The Man Who Fears the LORD - Psalms 112:1

Psalms one hundred twelve begins with the words, “Praise you the LORD” , and in chapter one hundred twelve and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said in full,

Praise you the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD,

that delights greatly in his commandments.

The verse begins, Praise you the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “Praise you the LORD” or “you, people reading and hearing the words of the Psalmist, adore, worship, give thanks and glory to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”. “Blessed is the man” which means “O how happy is the person whether male or female” “that fears the LORD” or “who reveres, honors, is in awe of and respects Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist called upon his readers and listeners to give homage and worship to Jehovah God, and he said the person who reveres and is in awe of God will exist as O how happy.

The verse goes on to say, “... that delights greatly in his commandments.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “that delights greatly” or “who takes exceeding, much and abundant pleasure and favor” “in his commandments” which means “within his, Jehovah God's, ordinances, codes, laws and precepts”. The Psalmist said people who take abundant pleasure within the ordinances and laws of Jehovah God are also O how happy.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist called upon his readers and listeners to adore and give homage to Jehovah God, and the people who revere Him and take abundant pleasure in His ordinances live as O how happy. God wants us to take pleasure in Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so we may be forgiven and live with Him forever. God's invitation to us is to revere Him, humble ourselves, takes pleasure in His ordinances and live an O how happy life before Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “His seed shall be mighty upon earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
