Before the LORD Continually - Psalms 109:15

In Psalms one hundred nine David said concerning his adversary, “Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out”, and in chapter one hundred nine and verse fifteen of Psalms David said, “let them be before the LORD continually” where we read,

Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

The verse begins, Let them be before the LORD continually, ... David began with the words, “let them be before the LORD” or “allow and permit them, the adversaries of David, to exist in front, in view and in the presence of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “continually” which means “continuously, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. David appealed to Jehovah God to have his enemies in His presence at all times.

The verse goes on to say, “... that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.” David continued with the words, “that he may cut off” or “so he, Jehovah God, might eliminate, kill and destroy” “the memory of them” which means “the remembrance, commemoration and construct pertaining to them, David's enemies” “from the earth” or “separate and apart from the country, territory, region, district and world”. David wanted his enemies to exist in the presence of Jehovah God so He could wipe away the remembrance of them from the world.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted there to be no memory of his enemy in the entire world. Needless to say, David wanted this person eliminated. David took his prayer to Jehovah God who promised that vengeance is His, (Romans 12:19 and Isaiah 63:4) and He would certainly contend with David's enemy. God loved David, and He loves us. He saved David and He offers us salvation from sins through His Son Jesus dying on the cross. Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead three days later. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and “cut off the memory” of those who oppose Him and us.

Next time David says his adversary, “remembered not to show mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
