The Wicked See and are Grieved - Psalms 112:10

In Psalms one hundred twelve the Psalmist said about the good man, “His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. He has dispersed, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honor”, and in chapter one hundred twelve and verse ten of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the wicked shall see it, and be grieved” where we read,

The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away:

the desire of the wicked shall perish.

The verse begins, The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away:” The Psalmist began with the words, “the wicked shall see it” or “the criminal, guilty of crime, ungodly, evil and morally wrong person will observe, notice and discern the endurance and exaltation of the good persons' righteousness and power”, “and be grieved” which means “and exist as vexed, indignant, wroth and provoked to anger and wrath”; “he shall gnash” or “he, the wicked person, will grind and grate” “with his teeth” which means “by the use of his, the wicked person's, physical teeth”, “and melt away” or “and dissolve, vanish, drop off and be wasted and worthless”. The Psalmist said the ungodly and evil person will observe the righteousness and power of the “good” person and be provoked to anger and wrath over them to the point that they grind their teeth together and vanish.

The verse continues, “the desire of the wicked shall perish.” The Psalmist added the words, “the desire of the wicked” or “the wish, longing, lust, appetite and covetousness belonging to the criminal, guilty of crime, ungodly, evil and morally wrong person” “shall perish” which means “will vanish, go astray, be destroyed and exterminated”. The Psalmist said the passion and longing of the ungodly and evil person would be destroyed and exterminated.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist noted the reaction of the ungodly and evil person to the blessing that was upon the “good”. They were “grieved” by the “good” person's favor from God to the point that they grated their physical teeth and were made worthless. The passion and drive of these “wicked” people was to be exterminated, and their presence would be as nothing in the “good” persons sight. God loves all people, and He desires to save them from the penalty of sin which is death. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow the “wicked” to observe our blessing from Him as He rewards us according to His perfect plan and purpose.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “Praise, O you servants of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
