Judah was God's Sanctuary - Psalms 114:2

In Psalms one hundred fourteen the Psalmist said, “when Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language”, and in chapter one hundred fourteen and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Judah was his sanctuary“ where we read,

Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.

The verse begins, Judah was his sanctuary, ... The Psalmist began with the word, “Judah” whose name means “praised” and was “the tribe descended from Judah the son of Jacob and the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon” “was his sanctuary” or “existed as his, Jehovah God's, sacred, set apart and holy place”. The Psalmist said the tribe of “Judah” existed as Jehovah God's set apart holy location.

The verse continues, “... and Israel his dominion.” The Psalmist added the words, “and Israel” which means “and Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “his dominion” or “his, Jehovah God's, rule, realm and domain”. The Psalmist said the nation and people of “Israel” exists as Jehovah God's realm and domain.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to “Judah and Israel” as Jehovah God's sacred location and realm. God called the nation of “Israel” to be the people through whom His Son Jesus the Messiah would come. All the other nations were to be blessed through them. (See Genesis 18:18; 22:18; 26:4 and Galatians 3:8) God loves everyone, and He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to understand the importance of “Judah and Israel” for Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the sea saw it, and fled”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
