In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “These six things does the LORD hate: yes, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ...”, and in chapter six and verse eighteen of Proverbs Solomon shares about, “A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief” where we read,
A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
The verse begins, “A heart that devises wicked imaginations, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “a heart” or “a soul, mind, will, desire, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and affections” “that devises wicked imaginations” which means “who plows, engraves, cuts in and fabricates troublesome, sorrowful, idolatrous and evil thoughts, plans, purposes and inventions”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God also “hates” the soul and mind who fabricates troublesome and evil plans and inventions.
The verse goes on to say, “... feet that be swift in running to mischief, ...” Solomon continued with the words, “feet that be swift” or “physical feet that make haste and hurry” “in running to mischief” which means “in quickly and speedily racing to do evil, unpleasantness, pain, misery and unhappiness”. Solomon said Jehovah God “hates” the physical “feet” that speedily hurry toward misery and evil.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God also “hates” the souls and minds who fabricate troublesome and evil thoughts and whose physical “feet” hurry toward misery and unhappiness. God wants us to keep these traits from being in our lives because we live in opposition to Him when we commit these acts. God knows we are prone to committing deeds that are sinful and against Him, so He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for all our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep our “hearts” and “feet” from committing evil acts that He “hates”.
Next time Solomon says, “my son, keep your father's commandment”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
