The Shining Light Path - Proverbs 4:18

In the book of Proverbs Solomon told his son that wicked people, “sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence”, and in chapter four and verse eighteen of Proverbs Solomon said, the path of the just is as the shining lightwhere we read,

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.

The verse begins, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, .... Solomon began with the words, “but the path of the just” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the travels, journeys and passing of life belonging to the lawful, righteous and correct” “is as the shining light” which means “exists similar and in likeness to the brilliant illumination, lamp or clearness”. Solomon shared how the journey and passing of life of people who are lawful and correct is similar to a brilliant illumination.

The verse continues, “... that shines more and more unto the perfect day.” Solomon added the words, “that shines more and more” or “that becomes bright, illuminated and kindled to a greater and greater degree” “unto the perfect day” which means “toward the fixed, established and confirmed sunrise and sunset”. Solomon said the life of the person who is lawful and correct is illuminated to a greater and greater degree toward the established and confirmed time period.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how people who live in a lawful and correct manner are blessed in their lives, and they become more and more bright every day they live. God wants this for everyone, and because sin separates us from a personal relationship with Him, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make our lives more illuminated and bright until the day we join Him in Heaven.

Next time Solomon says, the way of the wicked is as darkness, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
