Woman Passing Through the Street - Proverbs 7:8

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “at the window of my house I looked through my casement, and beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, ...”, and in chapter seven and verse eight of Proverbs Solomon said the young man was, “passing through the street near her corner” where we read,

Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

The verse begins, Passing through the street near her corner;. Solomon began with the words, passing through the streetor “marching over, traversing and advancing along the traveled road and way” near her corner which means “beside and in proximity to her, the strange woman's, chief angle or pinnacle of the street”. Solomon shared how the young lad without knowledge traveled close to the “corner” of the “street” where the strange woman was located.

The verse continues, “... and he went the way to her house, ...” Solomon added the words, “and he went the way” or “and he, the young lad, marched, stepped and made a stride” “to her house” which means “toward her, the strange woman's, dwelling place, habitation and abode”. Solomon said the young lad made a stride toward the strange woman's home.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon more about the young lad he observed through the window of his house. This young lad not only walked along the street toward the strange woman's location, but he followed her to her home. His desire for and proximity to the strange woman was the beginning of his problems. God warns us in advance of His limits and commands, and when we are tempted, if we do not resist, will commit sin against Him, others and ourselves if we fail. God knew we would give in to temptations and sin, and the penalty for those sins is death. (See Romans 6:23) He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and warn and help us to resist temptations and the locations where we may fall.

Next time Solomon says the woman was, “in the twilight, in the evening”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
