Ponder the Path of Your Feet - Proverbs 4:26

In the book of Proverbs Solomon told his son, “Let your eyes look right on, and let your eyelids look straight before you”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, ponder the path of your feet” where we read,

Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.

The verse begins, “Ponder the path of your feet, .... Solomon began with the words, “ponder the path” or “weigh, balance make level and smooth the entrenchment, track and goings” “of your feet” which means “ pertaining to your, the son of Solomon's, physical feet and pace”. Solomon instructed his son to weigh and balance the goings of his pace.

The verse goes on to say, “... and let all your ways be established.” Solomon continued with the words, “and let all your ways” or “and allow and permit each, every, the whole and everyone of your, the son of Solomon's, roads, journeys, manners, directions and habits” “be established” which means “exist as firm, stable, fixed, secure and enduring”. Solomon told his son to allow every one of his journeys and travels to be stable and enduring.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted his son to consider where his “feet” led him, and he was to allow every one of his travels to be fixed and enduring. Solomon knew his son could go places that would harm him, and if he cared very little about his travels, his son could live in an undisciplined manner. God cares about us as well, and He knows the best path for our lives. He loves us, and demonstrated his love when he sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. (See Romans 5:8) When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and empower us to live in a manner that is pleasing to Him.

Next time Solomon says, turn not to the right hand nor to the left, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
