In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “let them not depart from your eyes” where we read,
Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart.
The verse begins, “Let them not depart from your eyes;”. Solomon began with the words, “let them” or “allow and permit them, Solomon's words and sayings” “not depart” which means “no and never in any way leave, turn aside, go crooked or wrong” “from your eyes” or “separate and apart from your, Solomon's son's, physical eyes and mental and spiritual faculties”. Solomon instructed his son not to allow his words and sayings to be away from his sight.
The verse goes on to say, “keep them in the midst of your heart.” Solomon continued with the words, “keep them” or “guard, observe, give heed to, have charge of and protect them, Solomon's words and sayings” “in the midst” which means “within the middle or center” “of your heart” or “pertaining to your, the son of Solomon's, soul, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and affections”. Solomon told his son to observe and protect his words and sayings within the center of his soul, mind and will.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon knew it was important for his son to never allow himself to forget and ignore the words and sayings that he gave to him. Solomon wanted his son to have a good and prosperous life, and God wants the same for us. He gave us His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins so we can have a personal relationship with Him. When we surrender to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us His “words and sayings” to watch over and observe for our benefit all the days of our lives.
Next time Solomon says, “they are life unto those that find them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
