The Ways of Man Before the LORD's Eyes - Proverbs 5:21

In the book of Proverbs Solomon asked, “why will you, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?”, and in chapter five and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD” where we read,

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he ponders all his goings.

The verse begins, “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, .... Solomon began with the words, “for the ways of man” or “because, since and on account that the roads, journeys, directions and manners belonging to human beings both male and female” “are before the eyes” which means “exist in front and in the presence and sight” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Solomon said the journeys and directions of people exist within the sight of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, “... and he ponders all his goings.” Solomon continued with the words, “and he ponders” or “and he, Jehovah God, weighs and makes level and smooth” “all his goings” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of his, people's, tracks, entrenchments and paths”. Solomon said Jehovah God makes level and smooth every one of the paths of mankind.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how every one of the journeys and travels of people are within the sight of Jehovah God, and God weighs each of their paths. In other words, everything we do is in the sight of God. Solomon's son could entertain the embrace of the “strange woman”, but it would be within the presence of God. God knows us, and He knows where we go, what we do, what we think and our intentions. He knows we have sinned against Him and thereby have separated ourselves from a personal relationship with Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us in His “ways” and according to His “goings” as we live within His presence and sight.

Next time Solomon says, “his own iniquities shall take the wicked himself”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
