In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of your life shall be many”, and in chapter four and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “I have taught you in the way of wisdom” where we read,
I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.
The verse begins, “I have taught you in the way of wisdom;”. Solomon began with the words, “I have taught you” or “I, Solomon, have directed, shown and instructed, you, Solomon's son” “in the way of wisdom” which means “within the path, journey, manner, habit and direction belonging to skill, shrewdness and prudence”. Solomon shared how he gave instruction to his son according to the path and direction of skill and prudence.
The verse goes on to say, “I have led you in right paths.” Solomon continued with the words, “I have led you” or “I, Solomon, have caused you, Solomon's son, to tread, march and walk” “in the right paths” which means “within the straight and upright paths, journeys, manners, habits and directions”. Solomon said he caused his son to walk according to the upright and correct manner.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how he gave his son instruction according to skill and prudence, and he guided him in a correct and upright way to live. When we remember that Jehovah God through His Holy Spirit inspired the scriptures, we understand that God is teaching us through Solomon's words as well. God loves us, and He is for us. He wants us to have the best life possible, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us His “wise” ways as He leads us in an upright manner.
Next time Solomon says to his son, “when you go, your steps shall not be straitened”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
