Moveable Ways - Proverbs 5:6

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell”, and in chapter five and verse six of Proverbs Solomon told his son,her ways are moveable” where we read,

Lest you should ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that you can not know them.

The verse begins, “Lest you should ponder the path of life, .... Solomon began with the words, “lest you should ponder” or “unless and except you, Solomon's son, were to weigh, make level, balance and make smooth” “the path of life” which means “the way, passing of life and travels pertaining to fresh, flowing, lively and active living”. Solomon considered the idea of his son balancing and making smooth the direction of his living.

The verse continues, “... her ways are moveable, that you can not know them.” Solomon added the words, “her ways are moveable” or “her, the strange woman's, entrenchment, track, trench and goings exist as quivering, tottering, shaking, reeling, staggering, wandering and trembling” “that you can not know them” which means “so you, Solomon's son, are unable and incapable to perceive, see, find out, discern, discriminate and distinguish them, the strange woman's ways”. Solomon said the strange woman lives in a staggering and tottering manner, and therefore her ways difficult for his son to perceive.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon shared the results of submitting to the words and journeys of the “strange woman”. Solomon's son was to think about his steps, and because the “strange woman's” goings were unstable, it would be difficult for his son to perceive them. God knows what is best for our lives, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins as we yield our lives to Him. God wants us to live forever with Him, and He will guide us into all truth by His Holy Spirit to be separated from people whose “ways” are tottering and staggering.

Next time Solomon says, “hear me now, O you children”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
