Hear Me Now - Proverbs 5:7

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Lest you should ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that you can not know them”, and in chapter five and verse seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “hear me now, O you children where we read,

Hear me now therefore, O you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

The verse begins, “Hear me now therefore, O you children, .... Solomon began with the words, “hear me now therefore” or “listen to, obey and pay attention with interest to me, Solomon, at this time and moment then, wherefore and these things being so”, “O you children” which means “O you offspring and progeny of Solomon”. Because the strange woman is a temptress whose path leads to death, Solomon called upon his offspring to listen and pay attention to him.

The verse goes on to say, “... and depart not from the words of my mouth.” Solomon continued with the words, “and depart not” or “and do not leave or be separated” “from the words” which means “apart from the utterances, declarations and proclamations” “of my mouth” or “belonging to my, Solomon's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking”. Solomon instructed his “children” not to leave or be separated from his utterances from his “mouth”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon called for the attention of all his offspring, and he instructed them not to separate themselves from his utterances and sayings. Solomon was the wisest man alive, and anyone listening to his words would be benefited in their lives. God gave Solomon his wisdom, and when we listen to him, we are in effect receiving the guidance from Jehovah God. God loves us, and He wants to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to never “depart” from His “words”.

Next time Solomon says, “remove your way far from her”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
