Six Things the LORD Hates - Proverbs 6:16

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a froward mouth. He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers. Frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy”, and in chapter six and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “these six things does the LORD hate” where we read,

These six things does the LORD hate: yes, seven are an abomination unto him:

The verse begins, “These six things does the LORD hate:. Solomon began with the words, “these six things” or “the following same six behaviors and attitudes” “does the LORD hate” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God is odious to and considers an enemy and a foe”. Solomon how Jehovah God considers the following six behaviors to be odious to Him, and He considers them enemies.

The verse goes on to say, “yes, seven are an abomination unto him:” Solomon continued with the words, “yes, seven” or “even so and indeed, seven of the following behaviors” “are an abomination unto him” which means “exist as disgusting, unclean, wicked and abhorrent to him, Jehovah God”. Solomon said the seven following behaviors and attitudes are disgusting to Jehovah God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how God does “hate” some things. We shall learn what those things are in our next few verses, and when we think them through, we shall discover that these behaviors and attitudes not only are enemies of God, but they destroy people both while they live on the earth and in their eternal life thereafter. God loves people, and when they manifest behaviors and attitudes that will destroy themselves and others, He hates them. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross to save people from their sins, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us through His Holy Spirit to never manifest these wicked and disgusting “seven things” that He “hates”.

Next time Solomon shares about, “a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
