Strangers Filled with Your Wealth - Proverbs 5:10

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Hear me now therefore, O you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove your way far from her, and come not near the door of her house. Lest you give your honor unto others, and your years unto the cruel”, and in chapter five and verse ten of Proverbs Solomon said, “Lest strangers be filled with your wealth where we read,

Lest strangers be filled with your wealth; and your labors be in the house of a stranger;

The verse begins, “Lest strangers be filled with your wealth;. Solomon began with the words, “lest strangers be filled” or “unless and except foreigners, loathsome prostitutes and harlots are satisfied, satiated and surfeited” “with your wealth” which means “by the means of your, the children of Solomon's, strength, power, might and vigor”. Solomon shared how foreigners would be satiated with his children's strength and substance if they did not stay away from the strange woman.

The verse continues, “and your labors be in the house of a stranger;” Solomon added the words, “and your labors” or “and your, the children of Solomon's, hurt, toil, sorrow, hardship and pain” “be in the house” which means “exist within the dwelling place and abode” “of a stranger” or “belonging to the children of Solomon”. Solomon said the reward for the hardship and pain of his children would be within foreigners' homes if they did not heed to his words about the strange woman.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon knew there were difficult circumstances that would be the consequences of his children not keeping their distance from the strange woman. Foreigners would capture their belongings, and rather than enjoy them, Solomon's children would see other people satisfied with their belongings. God does not want this type of destruction to come upon us, and He proved it when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we rely upon, trust in and cling to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and protect us from the pillage of foreigners who would love to gain from our loss.

Next time Solomon warns, “and you mourn at the last”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
