In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well”, and in chapter five and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “let your fountains be dispersed abroad” where we read,
Let your fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
The verse begins, “Let your fountains be dispersed abroad, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “let your fountains” or “allow and permit your, the son of Solomon's, springs or sources of flowing waters” “be dispersed abroad” which means “spread outside or out of bounds”. Solomon shared how his son was to allow his springs and sources of waters to be spread outside of his own boundaries.
The verse continues, “... and rivers of waters in the streets.” Solomon added the words, “and rivers of waters” or “and channels or canals of flowing springs or floods” “in the streets” which means “within the traveled roads, paths and trodden ways”. Solomon instructed his son to allow canals of flowing water to spread into the traveled roads.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon was to partake of his own flowing waters, and he was to allow others to know these were his “fountains and rivers of waters”. God gave Solomon and his son their possessions, and when God gives us a personal relationship with a spouse, others should know about them, but never should either spouse romantically engage with someone else. God loves us, and He wants us to have a good life. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to drink of our own waters and allow everyone else to be aware of it.
Next time Solomon says to his son, “let them be only your own, and not strangers”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
