In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Let your fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of your youth”, and in chapter five and verse nineteen of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “ let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe” where we read,
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
and be you ravished always with her love.
The verse begins, “Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy you at all times;”. Solomon began with the words, “let her be as the loving hind” or “allow and permit her, the wife of his son's youth, exist in likeness and similar to the affectionate doe or deer” “and pleasant roe” which means “and favored, elegant and accepted female mountain goat”; “let her breasts” or “allow and permit her, the wife of his son's youth's, teats, chest and bosom” “satisfy you” which means “satiate, saturate, fill and intoxicate you, Solomon's son” “at all times” or “during the whole, each, every and total occurrences, occasions and experiences”. Solomon instructed his son to allow his wife to be similar to the affectionate deer, and he was to permit her chest to satiate him upon every occasion.
The verse goes on to say, “and be you ravished always with her love.” Solomon continued with the words, “and be you ravished always” or “and exist as committed, intoxicated and enraptured” “with her love” which means “by the use of her, the son of Solomon's wife's, absolute physical affection and desires”. Solomon told his son to continually be committed and enraptured by his wife's physical affection and desire.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon desired that his son be totally devoted and satisfied with his wife, and he was to continually be enraptured with her affectionate physical “love”. God wants husbands to be committed to their wives and wives committed to their husbands. They are a symbol of His commitment to us, and we exist as His bride when we receive His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”. Jesus died on the cross to pay the price of death for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to be totally committed to our spouses even as He is committed to us.
Next time Solomon says to his son, “why will you … be ravished with a strange woman”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
