Without and in the Streets - Proverbs 7:12

In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared about a woman dressed in the attire of a harlot, is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house”, and in chapter seven and verse ten of Proverbs Solomon said the woman was, “without, now in the streets” where we read,

Now is she without, now in the streets, and lies in wait at every corner.)

The verse begins, “Now is she without, now in the streets, .... Solomon began with the words, “now is she without” or “at this time and moment the harlot goes outside”, now in the streets which means “at this time and moment within the broad or open place or plaza”. Solomon shared how the “woman dressed as a harlot” is outside at this time within the open plaza.

The verse continues, “... and lies in wait at every corner.)” Solomon added the words, “and lies in wait” or “and lurks in ambush” “at every corner” which means “at all, the whole, the totality and each bulwark, chieftain and angle of the streets”.) Solomon said the woman dressed as a harlot lurked in ambush at each bulwark in the streets.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the woman who was in the attire of a harlot lurked within the roadways and each corner of the streets. This woman was looking for her next victim, and the naive young man was walking into her trap. God knows we will be tempted, and sometimes we sin. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to avoid the temptress regardless of where she stations herself or in what attire she dressed.

Next time Solomon says the woman, “caught him, and kissed him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
