Mourning at the Last - Proverbs 5:11

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Hear me now therefore, O you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove your way far from her, and come not near the door of her house. Lest you give your honor unto others, and your years unto the cruel. Lest strangers be filled with your wealth; and your labors be in the house of a stranger”, and in chapter five and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said, “and you mourn at the last where we read,

And you mourn at the last, when your flesh and your body are consumed,

The verse begins, “And you mourn at the last, .... Solomon began with the words, “and you mourn” or “and you, Solomon's children, growl and grown” “at the last” which means “in the after part, latter time, hinder-most and end”. Solomon shared how his children would groan as an end result of their engaging the strange woman.

The verse goes on to say, “... when your flesh and your body are consumed,” Solomon continued with the words, “when your flesh” or “at the time and moment your, the children of Solomon's, frail and erring pudenda or nakedness” “and your body” which means “and your, the children of Solomon's, physical flesh and blood” “are consumed” or “exist as ceased, failed, finished, spent, exhausted and perished”. Solomon said his children would “mourn and groan” at the time their frail physical nakedness and flesh are spent and perished.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Solomon knew the final result of his children engaging the strange woman. The physical bodies of Solomon's children would suffer when they subjected themselves to her temptation, and Solomon wanted to protect them from a life filled with trouble. Jehovah God desires to preserve us as well, and He provided His law as a means of protecting everyone who will listen to and obey Him. Because we have not kept His law, we have sinned, and the penalty for sin is death. (See Romans 6:23) Jesus paid the price for that death when He died on the cross for the sins of the world, and He was raised from the dead three days later so all who believe and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and kept from the physical consequences that come as a result of giving in to the strange woman.

Next time Solomon shares how his children will, “say, how have I hated instruction”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
