Frowardness in His Heart - Proverbs 6:14

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a froward mouth. He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers”, and in chapter six and verse fourteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “frowardness is in his heart” where we read,

Frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord.

The verse begins, “Frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually;. Solomon began with the word, “frowardness” or “perversity or fraud” “is in his heart” which means “exists within his, the naughty and wicked person's, soul, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and affections”, “he devises mischief” or “he, the naughty and wicked person plows, engraves and causes bad, evil, disagreeableness, malignancy and misery” “continually” which means “constantly, for long seasons and times”. Solomon shared how the naughty and wicked person has fraud and perversity within their souls, and they constantly devise malignant and evil practices.

The verse goes on to say, “he sows discord.” Solomon continued with the words, “he sows” or “he, the naughty and wicked person, stretches out, extends, directs and sends away” “discord” which means “strife, contention and brawling”. Solomon said the naughty and wicked person stretches out strife and contention as well.

When we mediate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the worthless and evil person has fraud and perversity within their soul, mind and will, and they are constantly plotting and causing malignancy and misery. They extend strife and contention everywhere they go. This behavior is not the way God wants us to act. He knows we have sin in our lives which separates us from a personal relationship with Him, so He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all people. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from the wicked behavior of people who are “naughty and evil”.

Next time Solomon says, “therefore shall his calamity come suddenly”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
