In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “at the window of my house I looked through my casement, and beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, ...”, and in chapter seven and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said the woman was, “in the twilight, in the evening” where we read,
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
The verse begins, “In the twilight, in the evening, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “in the twilight” or “at nightfall or the dusk”, “in the evening” which means “within the sunset”. Solomon said the young lad went to the strange woman's home in the dusk of the nighttime.
The verse goes on to say, “... in the black and dark night:” Solomon continued with the words, “in the black” or “within the middle and deepest blackness” “and dark night” which means “and darkness, gloominess and concealment of the nighttime”. Solomon said the young lad continued in his engagement with the strange woman unto the deepest darkness within the nighttime.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn about the timing of this young lad's engagement with the strange woman. It was dusk and proceeded into the darkness of the night where his act might be concealed. Many people commit pernicious acts within the dark while hoping to not be discovered, however, God sees us at all times. God knows all, sees all and is aware of every sin we commit, and because He loves us, He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for all our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from dark places where we might commit wicked and evil deeds against Him.
Next time Solomon says, “there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
