In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Hear me now therefore, O you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth”, and in chapter five and verse eight of Proverbs Solomon said, “remove your way far from her” where we read,
Remove your way far from her, and come not near the door of her house.
The verse begins, “Remove your way far from her, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “remove your way” or “make distant, put far away and withdraw your, the children of Solomon's, road, journey, manner, path and distance” “far from her” which means “separate and apart from her, the strange woman”. Solomon told his children to withdraw and keep their path separated from the strange woman.
The verse continues, “... and come not near the door of her house.” Solomon added the words, “and come not near” or “and do not approach or be present at” “the door of her house” which means “belonging to the opening or entrance to her, the strange woman's, dwelling place, habitation and abode”. Solomon instructed his children not to approach the entrance of the strange woman's dwelling place.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted his children to stay away from the strange woman. They were not even to get close to the opening to her dwelling place, and because Jehovah God loves us, He wants us to distance ourselves from evil places and people as well. Many people have destroyed their lives by being with wicked people or in wicked places, and God wants to protect us from that sort of ruin. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we put our faith and trust in Him, He will give us His Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and away from the evil people and places in the world. (See John 16:33)
Next time Solomon says, “lest you give your honor to others”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
