An Ornament of Grace - Proverbs 4:9

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote you: she shall bring you to honor, when you do embrace her”, and in chapter four and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, she shall give unto your head an ornament of grace” where we read,

She shall give to your head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.

The verse begins, “She shall give to your head an ornament of grace:. Solomon began with the words, “she shall give to your head” or “she, wisdom and understanding, will grant, bestow and provide to your, Solomon's children's, top, summit, upper part, height, chief, choicest and best place” “an ornament of grace” which means “a wreath pertaining to favor, charm, elegance and acceptance”. Solomon shared how wisdom and understanding will provide a wreath of favor and acceptance to those to his children.

The verse goes on to say, “a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.” Solomon continued with the words, “a crown of glory” or “a wreath pertaining to honor, splendor, beauty and finery” “shall she deliver” which means “will she, wisdom and understanding, give, and provide” “to you” or “toward you, Solomon's children”. Solomon said wisdom and understanding provide a wreath of honor, splendor and beauty to his children as they adhere to and obey them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how there are rewards and adornments that accompany people who receive wisdom and understanding from God. God wants us to be wise, and He provides His intellect to everyone who will receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind as their personal “Savior and Lord”. God loves us, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide the adornment of honor, splendor, glory and favor to us as we receive Him into our lives.

Next time Solomon says, Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
