Ransom Not Regarded - Proverbs 6:35

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said “whosoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance”, and in chapter six and verse thirty-five of Proverbs Solomon said, “he will not regard any ransom” where we read,

He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

The verse begins, He will not regard any ransom;. Solomon began with the words, he will not regardor “he, the husband whose wife committed adultery, shall in no way or manner lift up, carry, exalt or desire” any ransom which means “some kind of satisfying redemption price”. Solomon said the husband of the wife who “commits adultery” will in no way desire some kind of redemptive price for the wrong performed against him.

The verse continues, “neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts .” Solomon added the words, “neither will he rest content” or “no and not in any way shall he, the husband of the wife who commits adultery, yield, desire, accept or be willing to breathe after or consent”, “though you give many gifts” which means “even when you, the person who commits adultery, grants, bestows or makes a multitude, abundance or numerous amount of presents, bribes, donations or rewards”. Solomon said the husband of the wife who “commits adultery” will never be satisfied with any number of presents or rewards offered to him.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the husband of a wife will never be appeased though he is offered a numerous amount of rewards by one who “commits adultery” with his wife. The same may be said for the wife of of husband who “commits adultery”. All of these are sins against other people and God Himself. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all people – even when they “commit adultery”. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from having to receive or give “gifts” for violating God's law concerning “adultery”.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon say, “My son, keep my words”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
