Life in Solomon's Sayings - Proverbs 4:22

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart”, and in chapter four and verse twenty-two of Proverbs Solomon said, they are life unto those that find themwhere we read,

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

The verse begins, “For they are life unto those that find them, .... Solomon began with the words, “for they are life” or “because, since and on account that they, Solomon's words and sayings, exist as fresh, flowing, lively and active sustenance and maintenance for living” “unto those that find them” which means “toward the people whether male or female who discover, attain, secure and acquire them, Solomon's words and sayings”. Solomon said his “words and sayings” were as active sustenance and maintenance for living to every person who discovers them.

The verse continues, “... and health to all their flesh.” Solomon added the words, “and health” or “and healing, profit and cure” “to all their flesh” which means “toward each, every, the whole and everyone of their, the people who discover Solomon's words and sayings, bodies”. Solomon said people who discover his “words and sayings” will also receive healing and profit to their physical bodies.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon's “words and sayings” were a great advantage to the lives of people who discover them, and they are also beneficial to their physical bodies. God wants to care for us, and He has our mental, physical and spiritual faculties in mind. He knows we are separated from a personal relationship with Him because we have sin in our lives, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for pay for our sins so we can relate to Him. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to value what He has to say so our lives will be the best that they can be.

Next time Solomon says, keep your heart with all diligence, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
