In Psalms chapter seven David wrote if he were guilty of any wickedness, “Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yes, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah. Arise, O LORD, in your anger, lift up yourself because of the rage of my enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that you have commanded”, and in chapter seven and verse seven of Psalms, David declared, “So shall the congregation of the people compass you about” where we read,
So shall the congregation of the people compass you about:
for their sakes therefore return you on high.
The verse begins, “So shall the congregation of the people compass you about:” David began with the words, “So shall the congregation of the people” which means “thus and therefore will the assembly and gathering of the nations and people both male and female” “compass you about” or “ circle about, surround and envelop you Jehovah God”. David shared how the nations and people would surround the LORD God.
The verse goes on to say, “for their sakes therefore return you on high.” David continued with the words, “for their sakes” or “because and on the account of the assembly of people and nations” “therefore return you” which means “then, wherefore and for this reason and cause turn back Jehovah God” “on high” or “from the elevated and lofty place”. David desired Jehovah God to return to His elevated place where His judgment and rule is maintained.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted Jehovah God to rule over the gathering of the people and nations. God will indeed do so, and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (See Romans 14:11) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when a person believes and trusts in Him, they will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Every person will stand before God, and they will be judge by whether they believe and trust in His Son Jesus or not. Those who believe will be saved by Him, and those who do not believe will be forever separated from Him. David knew to turn his enemies over to Jehovah, and we are wise when we gather under His Son Jesus' name as our “Savior and Lord”.
Next time David says, “the LORD shall judge the people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
