In Psalms chapter seven David wrote if he were guilty of any wickedness, “Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yes, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah. Arise, O LORD, in your anger, lift up yourself because of the rage of my enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that you have commanded. So shall the congregation of the people compass you about: for their sakes therefore return you on high”, and in chapter seven and verse eight of Psalms David declared, “the LORD shall judge the people” where we read,
The LORD shall judge the people:
judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity that is in me.
The verse begins, “The LORD shall judge the people:” David began with the words, “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall judge the people” or “will contend, plead and minister judgment upon the human beings both male and female who gather”. David committed the judgment of the “people” to the LORD God.
The verse continues, “judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity that is in me.” David added the words, “judge me” or “vindicate, govern over and avenge me, David”, “according to my righteousness” or “toward David's rightness, justice and what is right and normal”, “and according to my integrity” which means “and toward my, David's, completeness, fullness, innocence and simplicity” “that is in me” or “that exists within me, David”. David asked Jehovah God to vindicate and avenge him because there was rightness and innocence within him.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how David committed the judgment of people and nations to Jehovah God, however, he also appealed to Him to vindicate and avenge him of his enemies because he lived in a right and innocent manner. God loves everyone, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus. Sin separated people from God, and therefore God sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of mankind. Everyone who believes and trusts in Him will be forgiven of their sins and be granted a relationship with Him. God will judge the righteous and the unrighteous, and we can commit ourselves and others to Him who will judge everyone according to Him perfect ways and standards.
Next time David says, “let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
