In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said “I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. In that day, says the LORD of hosts, shall you call every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree”, and in chapter four and verse one of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how the angel, “waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep” where we read,
And the angel that talked with me came again,
and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,
The verse reads, “And the angel that talked with me came again, ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and the angel” or “and the spiritual messenger or envoy” “that talked with me” which means “who pronounced, communed and spoke to me, Zechariah” “came again” or “returned and entered another time”. Zechariah shared how the “angel” who spoke to him previously return to him another time.
The verse goes on to say, “... and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, ...” Zechariah continued with the words, “and waked me” or “and stirred up, incited and roused me, Zechariah”, “as a man” which means “similar and in likeness to a male human being” “that is wakened” or “who exists as stirred up, incited and roused” “out of his sleep”which means “from slumbering or sleeping”. Zechariah shared how the “angel” who appeared to him the first time returned to him and woke him up like a person who is roused from their sleeping.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Zechariah how the spiritual envoy from Jehovah God returned to him and woke him up. Perhaps Zechariah was asleep physically and was stirred awake by the angel, but nonetheless, Zechariah was alert once again. God is able to “stir up” people whenever he desires, and there are many who need to be “awakened” by Him today. God loves people, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, His desire is to offer them forgiveness of sins, everlasting life and the opportunity to live with Him in Heaven forever. Even as Paul the apostle wrote, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” (Romans 13:11)
Next time Zechariah shares how the angel shows him, “a candlestick all of gold”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
