In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said about Jerusalem, “For I, says the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her”, and in chapter two and verse six of Zechariah, Zechariah shares how Jehovah God says, “ho, ho, come forth” where we read,
Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, says the LORD:
for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, says the LORD.
The verse reads, “Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, says the LORD:” Zechariah began with the words, “ho, ho, come forth” or “alas, alas, get up and arise”, “and flee from the land of the north” which means “escape, depart and disappear separate and apart from the northern country, territory, district and region”, “says the LORD” or “utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God called upon the people of Jerusalem to arise and escape from the northern country and region which was Babylon.
The verse goes on to say, “for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, says the LORD.” Zechariah continued with the words, “for I have spread you abroad” or “because, since and on account that I, Jehovah God, have scattered and dispersed you, the people of Israel” “as the four winds of the heaven” which means “similar and in likeness to the four directional breezes of air within the visible skies and atmosphere”, “says the LORD” or “utters, declares and proclaims Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said He dispersed the people of Israel in the four directions of the visible sky.
When we consider Zechariah's words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God called upon the people of Israel to return to Jerusalem from the northern country of “Babylon” because He was responsible for dispersing them to the four corners of the world. God wanted His people Israel to return to their homeland and continue in fellowship with Him. God loves people, and even when they have gone astray and resist coming back to Him, He calls upon them to return. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sinful behavior of everyone, (See Romans 3:10, 23), and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and draw us close to Him so we live in a manner that is not only with Him, but also is the best life we will ever live.
Next time Zechariah shared how Jehovah God says, “deliver yourself, O Zion”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
