Everlasting Mercy Upon Them that Fear God - Psalms 103:17

In Psalms one hundred and three David said, As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more”, and in chapter one hundred three and verse seventeen of Psalms David said, “the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him” where we read,

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him,

and his righteousness unto children's children;

The verse begins, But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, ... David began with the words, “but the mercy” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is from everlasting” or “exists from long duration, continuous existence and perpetually” “to everlasting” which means “unto long duration, continuous existence and perpetually” “upon them” or “on the people whether male or female” “that fear him” which means “who reverence, are in awe and respect of him, Jehovah God”. David said Jehovah God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness exists from the past long duration to the future long duration.

The verse continues,... and his righteousness unto children's children; David added the words, “and his righteousness” or “and his, Jehovah God's, rightness, justice, justification, salvation and prosperity” “unto children's children” which means “toward the offspring and posterity of the offspring and posterity”. David said Jehovah God's justice and salvation would be extended to the grandchildren of the people who reverence Him.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David recognized the perpetuity of the goodness, kindness and faithfulness of Jehovah God toward people who are in awe and reverence of Him. This rightness and justice of Jehovah God would be extended not only to the people who fear Him, but also to their grandchildren. God desires to share His “mercy” with every person who comes to Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and continue to share His goodness, righteousness, mercy and faithfulness with every generation who remains in awe of Him.

Next time David says this promise is, “to such as keep his covenant”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
